Our History
Our team’s experience developing CNC controllers and software dates back to 1996. The timeline below traces our key milestones and product releases, beginning with the plasma cutting machine retrofit that became the foundation for our first generation of controllers.
1997
– The team performs a plasma cutting machine retrofit employing the latest technologies available. The work performed on the retrofit becomes the basis for the first generation of our controllers.
2002
– First-Generation controller working on a plasma/oxyfuel machine

2004-2006
– A number of bevel cutting machines set up with our 2nd generation of controllers

2008
– myCNC project started. This electronic package for CNC control aims to be the go-to package for any and all CNC needs
– First samples of enhanced chamfer cutting on an oxyfuel machine

- 2009
- First control console prototype for a plasma/oxyfuel machine
- First host controller for peripheral devices
- Developed our first operator panel
- Prototype board for the myCNC-ET1 controller
- Stepper drivers prototypes

2010
– ET1 controller released, based on the 2009 prototype

- 2013
- Puruvesi Automation company formed in Ottawa, Canada
- ET3 controller released
- ET5 controller released

2014
– myCNC software package ported onto Single-Board Computers

2015
– ET10 controller is developed, featuring 48 binary inputs and 24 binary outputs

2016
– ET7 controller is released as a replacement to the ET1

2017
– ET6 controller is developed as a replacement to the ET3, and, along with the ET7, becomes one of our most popular boards to date

2018
– The CNC Vision system is released, allowing for advanced calibration and adjustment of imported files

2019
– ET15 controller: development completed and released. The full-featured breakout board offers up to 8 motor outputs, 8 pulse-dir channels (up to 3MHz), 64 galvanic isolated inputs, 8 encoder channels, 64 total outputs (56 open collector, 8 PWM), and RS485/RS422 Modbus support. Stone milling (machining) with full system-integrated height correction, and more, remains under active development.

2022
– Built-in 2D CAD/CAM added as a standard option within the myCNC control software for plasma, oxy-fuel, and laser cutting machines. The integrated module includes DXF/HPGL import, an on-console CAD drafting toolset, automatic part nesting to minimize sheet material waste, and per-layer tool assignment (plasma/oxy-fuel/marking) with adjustable lead-in/lead-out control – removing the need for separate third-party CAM software on these machines.
